Who’s your True North Team Member?

One of our consultants, Henry,  would always say, who is your True North team member? What he meant was at times during the project there will be critical work or stressful deadlines. We always had one or two on the team that would rise to the occasion and surge forward with a steady, calm resolve to accomplish the mission  – essentially, the leaders within the team that people looked to and respected.

Challenging times provide an uninvited opportunity for your team members to ascend towards True North, and always finding a way to get it done. The True North team member:

  • Stays focused on what is important, and avoids getting stuck in the mud!
  • Asks the salient questions that keep the ‘one thing’ the ‘main thing!’
  • Remains calm in the faith that an answer will be found; give it some time!

I hear from many of our customers how they are not getting their work done because, with remote work, too much time is spent on conference calls. Yet, on every team, there is one or two team members that do get it done – our True North team members.

Take a step back and observe these True North performers and acknowledge them for their focus, resolve, calm, and faith during these unprecedented times. Thank them for being the steady contributors that sometimes lead from the middle and continue to get their work done, as expected, on-time, and with the respect of their peers.

Whether we are in a battle, a project, or a pandemic, True North performers continue to do the right things right!
